Quarterly Meeting

VTC Quarterly Meeting

We were finally able to reunite with some of our valued VTC Family Members!

On May 3rd, 2022 roughly 55 VTC team members took over our Marysville shop for the day. The group was comprised of Auto Haulers, Senior Managers and representatives from our Safety, Quality, Fuel, Marketing, EveryFleet and Maintenance Teams. Due to the pandemic, this was the first time we have all gathered together as a group to host a Quarterly Safety Meeting since 2019. Since we had a couple years to really think things through, we decided to truly embrace VTC’s core value of continuous improvement and mix it up a bit.

Instead of having everyone all together for one big session with multiple presenters like we have in the past, we decided to break each session down by department. The mini-sessions were led by Jeff from Maintenance, Deanna from Safety, Marissa from Quality, Diane from Fuel, and Chris from EveryFleet and all of the sessions were woven together through one common theme: Distracted Driving & Collision Avoidance.

We started off each session with a bite to eat and some casual conversation. After snacking and mingling for a bit, Auto Haulers rotated through the mini-sessions in smaller groups, which gave the drivers opportunities to ask more questions and interact more with the presenters. The attendees seemed to enjoy the new format:

Moving around the rooms promoted small group Interaction which kept me dialed in to what was going on. With the smaller groups I noticed more interaction with all drivers. With larger groups most drivers don’t interact as much.”

“Each department had a small presentation that was informative and then had ample time to individually respond to questions throughout the meeting.”

In addition to the mini-sessions, Auto Haulers were also able to interact with some members of our Senior Management Team including Leo, Wendy, Adam, Ricky, Brian, Paul and Lou. Drivers were able to ask them questions, provide suggestions, learn about new business, and simply spend some valuable time together.

“Talking to upper management about future upcoming work was uplifting and refreshing. This family’s getting bigger and bigger, so [Senior Managers] listening to our concerns is appreciated.”

“The important thing to me, and this has always been one of my favorite parts of working here, is the willingness to listen to us as drivers and explain why things are done how they are. In other words, we are not simply treated as an employee number but rather an integral part of the business.”

Both the morning and afternoon sessions wrapped up with incentive giveaways which included swag items, gift cards, and cell phone mounts. Auto Haulers who attended the event were given an incentive just for being there and additional incentives were raffled off to the attendees of each mini-session. The grand prize was a $200 gift card that was raffled off to one lucky attendee from each session.

To sum up the May 2022 Auto Hauler Quarterly Safety Meeting as a whole, one Auto Hauler said “it was an awesome event very well thought out and presented.

We are already looking forward to our next Auto Hauler Quarterly Meeting and can’t wait to do it all over again soon!

Special shout out and thanks to our Marysville-based team who let us come in and turn their shop upside down for a few days: We truly appreciate your flexibility and willingness to help create a truly successful event in your space.
